Quilter's Blog Hop Party and Give-Away

Hi friends,

for the first time I'll participe to the Blog Hop Party with Give-Away organized by Michelle from Quilting Gallery. Click here to have a look.

I will take this chance to thank all my readers and, why not, find some new ones interested in my blog.

I also will tell about some projects planned for 2013.

The first very big event will be the exhibition “Pour l'amour du fil” in Nantes, France....from 24th to 27th of April 2013. Click here for more informations. The fantastic thing is that there will be the original Dear Jane quilt coming from America with Brenda Papadakis, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the famous quilt.
There will be an exhibition of 100 Dear Jane quilts from all over the world. I made my entry too, only in April I will know if my DJ will be selected....I hope yes!!!
Anyway I made my flight and hotel reservations and will be there....

Second project is to get ready my sewing room to be able to work again on my UFO's.

Third project is to finish at least three UFO's.

And now the most important thing to you....what are you going to win??? Here is my give-away to you.

To enter the give-away: starting 10th of December leave a comment below telling me if you have any special plans for 2013 and if you like, become my follower. One random winner will be selected December 17th. The give-away is open to everyone and I'll ship worldwide.

Design wall

Hi friends,

Saturday morning...lazy...I have a long list of things to do, but don't know where to start...so here some finished works I have sewn during the last weeks.

First my Ticker Tape mini quilt. I used scraps from my Dear Jane quilt, for the back I used the same fabric as for my DJ and the binding is the same too.  It is just a homage to my master piece and I needed a small project that I could finish in a week os so.

Here you can have a look to my Dear Jane.

Second finish is my first block of the Retro Flower quilt. I sewed it all by hand, it was great fun and I'm happy with the result. Probably I just will do some more and then sew them together to a wall hanging.

Have a very good week-end. Hugs.

Blogger's Quilt Festival Fall 2012

Hi dear friends,

it's Blogger's Quilt Festival again!!! I'm very excited and will take the time to visit all the wonderful entries.

My quilt for this year's edition is a mini quilt I have made for one of my guest houses.

It was my first wonky quilt and it was quite difficult for me to get out of my confort zone. It's a simple wonky log cabin, four different squares, joined without any sashing. I used Amy Butler fabrics.

I handquilted it with a free wavy pattern, in two different colors.

I enjoyed it very much, it was a fun and fast quilt to finish.

Quilt stats:
Dimensions: 27 1/2” x 27 1/2”
Designed, pieced and handquilted by: me
Best categories: Mini quilt, handquilted

Please visit and enjoy all the fabulous entries at Amy's Creative Site.

Have a nice Sunday. Hugs.

New project and some impressions

Hi friends,

Summer is almost gone and we have been very busy. Actually we still are, but I wantend to post some news, after a long time neglecting my blog.
I didn't sew at all over the last few months and I'm starting to miss it. Although my sewing room is still a mess, I decided what my next project will be. Not a quilt but a skirt, done with a quilt block, the tumbler block. I will work with this tutorial and these are the fabrics I will be using.
Most of them are from Amy Butler's Daisy Chain collection and two are just pillow cases (you can't imagine what an amount of cheap fabric you get with a pillow case on sale!!).
I will do mine with 4 1/2" on top, 8 1/2" at the buttom and high. So I have less tumblers to cut out and the skirt doesn't look to busy. I will post my work in progress.

To end my post here are some fun pictures.
Did Felix catch the baby rat?? No, he didn't. We generally don't want rats around the house, but that one remembered me about the one in the movie Ratatouille. So cute!!!
Here you can see the rainbow that embraced our property, it was like having our own personal, special rainbow.

Hope to come back soon with updating on my skirt project. Have a nice week.

Liberty fabrics

Hi friends,
today I was a very lucky girl, the postman was here and I got my parcel from the UK with lovely Liberty fabrics. Look how beautiful they are.

I don't know yet what I will do with them, I could use them for the new Barbara Brackman BOW. I probably will need more fabrics. I love new fabrics!!!

During our daily walk at Sete Cidades i picked up some lovely flowers for my home. This time i chose all in white, Hydrangeas and Agapantus.
Soft and sweet :)
Have a nice week-end. Hugs.

Civil War Block of the Week

Hi friends,
finally my Civil War BOW is completed!! Today I added the border and this is the result

Each block is 4 1/2", for a total of 100 blocks. It was great fun waiting for Saturdays, discover the new block, reduce it and try to sew it well. I'm very happy with the result. Now I just need a lovely backing fabric (probably I'll have a look at Zara) and start with the quilting. I still have to make up my decision if handquilt or machinequilt. What do you suggest?
Thanks for visiting and hugs.

Bloggers BOM

Hi friends,
Saturday it was a rainy day, so after I did my chores (lot of dishes, because Friday we had lovely friends for dinner), I decided that it was time to reuse my sewing machine. I had two blocks to catch up for the Bloggers' BOM. Here they are
Block 8

Block 9

My blocks so far
9 blocks so far, only 3 more to go, that's good because I'm running out of green and yellow fabrics.
Hope to have enough to finish the blocks.
Have a lovely Sunday. Hugs.

BLOGGERS' QUILT FESTIVAL SPRING 2012

Dear friends,

I nearly missed the Spring editions of the Bloggers' Quilt Festival organized by Amy's Creative Side!!!
This time I want to show my second One block wonder quilt. This kind of quilt is so fun to sew...and I tried it with smaller hexagons, they are just 4 1/2". I used 100 of them. I think I pinned it and took it down from my design wall about 5 times before I was happy with the result...But finally here it is. I quilted it by hand.

Some details

This is the original fabric.

Don't forget to take a look at all the fabulous entries. Here the link to Amy's Creative Side

Have fun and a very good week. Hugs. Pink

New blocks

Hi friends,

after a very busy time and still with a lot of work to do, I found a little spare time to sew the last two blocks for my Bloggers BOM. I just needed some sewing after about two month without. Here they are.

Tomorrow more painting in the old house, to make it ready for the first guests coming in May. Very soon I'll show some pictures.
Enjoy your week. Hugs.
