BLOGGER'S QUILT FESTIVAL SPRING 2015

Dear friends,

once again it's Blogger's Quilt Festival again!!! And this year I'm very late, last minute. I've been visiting my sons and grandchildren in Switzerland and came back yesterday night. But I really wanted to participate this year because I have a quilt that I really love to present you.

I did it for my DH for a Christmas present and named it CAPPUCCINO. Here it is.
I used scraps of fabric in neutral colors and added some glamour with a gold shiny fabric. The squares are 12". I quilted it by hand in circles starting in the center and going on with bigger and bigger circles.

Don't forget to visit all the fabulous quilts presented at the Blogger's Quilt Festival.
Have fun. Hugs.

MESSENGER BAG

Hi dear friends,

in May I will travel to Switzerland to see my children and grandchildren. So I'm quite busy sewing. I made two baby quilts for my new grandchildren (one is already in the quilting process, the second one has to be sandwiched). But what I finished first is a messenger bag for me.

Done out of a lovely alcantara fabric bought some years ago.
Next I'll finish quilting the first baby quilt. Pictures are coming very soon.
Have a nice week. Hughs.

Drunkard's Path almost done

Hi friends,

and here is my Drunkard's Path table runner sewn together! I really love it, despite the fact that almost all circles don't match perfectly. I will probably hand quilt it.

It was fun and quick sewing all the circles. This tutorial was a great help. Sooo incredibly easy and fast.
Thanks for visiting. Hugs.

New project - Drunkard's Path tablerunner

Hi dear friends,

it seems that this year I'm very inspired. I'm already on a new project! I spent some days looking at wonderful quilts done with the Drunkard's Path block. Then, I realized that I have templates for this block! Next question what to do and which fabrics to use. I decided for shades of purple. Then I made a little layout on paper. Here are all the pieces cut out ready for playing around on my design wall.

And here is the possibly final result:

Lots of curves to sew! Each block measures 3 1/2". Final measurements for the tablerunner will be 15"x30".
Have a good start in the new week.

Colorwash exercise

Dear friends,

I allways wanted to sew a colorwash quilt. So during the last days I spent some time looking at wonderful quilts in the web, just to get some inspirantion.

Since it is my first attempt, I decided to get small. First I had to grab all my fabrics and divide them into colors. What I found was usually done in 2" blocks, I cut mine in 1 1/2". So with all my tiny bits I sat in front of my design wall and stardet playing around.

This is the first result:

It is 11 by 10 blocks. After that I decided that I wanted it square, so I added one more row on the top and changed just some blocks on the buttom purple section. And here is the final result:

It is about 12" square, a bit wonky, but after quiltin I'll square it. Now I'm hand quilting it, probably very soon I'll show you the finished piece.
Have a nice week-end. Hugs.

ANOTHER NEW PROJECT

HI DEAR FRIENDS,

TODAY I'LL SHOW YOU MY SECOND NEW PROJECT FOR THIS YEAR. IT CAME TO ME BY CHANCE WITH AN EMAIL THIS MORNING. I GOT IT FROM QUILT AROUND THE WORLD WITH A FANTASTIC PROJECT AND THE IDEA STARTED TAKING SHAPE VERY FAST.

I DECIDED TO PARTICIPATE AND CREATE A 9" BLOCK ABOUT THE 9 AZOREAN ISLANDS, THE ARCHIPELAGO WHERE I HAPPILY LIVE. EACH ISLAND HAS A COLOR GIVEN TO IT FROM A SPECIFIC CARACTER.

THE ARCHIPELAGO IS DIVIDED INTO THREE GROUPS:
- EASTERN GROUP WITH SAO MIGUEL AND SANTA MARIA
- CENTRAL GROUP WITH TERCEIRA, GRACIOSA, SAO JORGE, PICO AND FAIAL
- WESTERN GROUP WITH FLORES AND CORVO

THIS ARE THE COLORS FOR EACH ISLAND:
- SANTA MARIA - YELLOW - DUE TO THE BROOM FLOWERING THERE
- SAO MIGUEL - GREEN - DUE TO THE FIELDS AND WOODS
- TERCEIRA - PURPLE - DUE TO THE WISTERIA AND LILAC TRELLIS
- GRACIOSA - WHITE - DUE TO THE WHITE STONES
- SAO JORGE - BROWN - DUE TO THE ROCKS AT PONTA DOS ROSAIS
- PICO - GREY - DUE TO THE MOUNTAIN
- FAIAL - BLUE - DUE TO THE BLUE HYDRANGEAS
- FLORES - PINK - DUE TO THE AZALEAS
- CORVO - BLACK - DUE TO THE LAVA AND THE DRY WALLS DIVIDING THE FIELDS

AFTER ALL THIS INFORMATIONS HERE IS THE LAYOUT:

NOW I JUST HAVE TO APPLIQUÉ THE CIRCLES AND SEW THE SQUARES TOGETHER. SOON THE FINISHED PIECE WILL BE SHOWN.
THANK YOU FOR VISITING AND HAPPY WEEK-END.
HUGS.

NEW PROJECT

First post for this new year and already a new project to show. I decided that this year I'll try to avoid buying clothes, although I'm not a shopping addicted, but in fact who need s all the clothes in their closets?

But I decided too that I could sew some special and unique clothes. So, my first project will be a tunica, but a very special tunica. I took inspiration here and bought this book. The idea is to create my own clothes collection.

For the tunica I started assembling scraps of Liberty fabrics and will then sew them together to a large piece of fabric and after that sew my tunica (the patchwork will only be in the front).

They already look great, but I will rearrange them, this is just to get the feeling.
Have a nice week-end.
