MESSENGER BAG

Hi dear friends,

in May I will travel to Switzerland to see my children and grandchildren. So I'm quite busy sewing. I made two baby quilts for my new grandchildren (one is already in the quilting process, the second one has to be sandwiched). But what I finished first is a messenger bag for me.

Done out of a lovely alcantara fabric bought some years ago.
Next I'll finish quilting the first baby quilt. Pictures are coming very soon.
Have a nice week. Hughs.

Drunkard's Path almost done

Hi friends,

and here is my Drunkard's Path table runner sewn together! I really love it, despite the fact that almost all circles don't match perfectly. I will probably hand quilt it.

It was fun and quick sewing all the circles. This tutorial was a great help. Sooo incredibly easy and fast.
Thanks for visiting. Hugs.

NEW PROJECT

First post for this new year and already a new project to show. I decided that this year I'll try to avoid buying clothes, although I'm not a shopping addicted, but in fact who need s all the clothes in their closets?

But I decided too that I could sew some special and unique clothes. So, my first project will be a tunica, but a very special tunica. I took inspiration here and bought this book. The idea is to create my own clothes collection.

For the tunica I started assembling scraps of Liberty fabrics and will then sew them together to a large piece of fabric and after that sew my tunica (the patchwork will only be in the front).

They already look great, but I will rearrange them, this is just to get the feeling.
Have a nice week-end.

LITTLE CHRISTMAS PRESENTS

Hi dear friends,

yesterday I went to my sewing room without really knowing what to do and stardet grabbing some fabric scraps (Liberty). Some time ago I bought dry lavender flowers with the idea to make perfumed sachets. And finally I ended up with three lovely gifts for Christmas.

Soon I'll make a tutorial to show how I made them. Have a nice week.

CAPPUCCINO QUILT

AFTER A QUITE LONG BREAK I FINALLY GOT THE INSPIRATION FOR A NEW QUILT. IT WILL BE A QUILT FOR MY DH AND SO IT IS MORE MASCULINE. I LOOKED FOR LOTS OF NEUTRAL FABRICS AND I CALLED IT CAPPUCCINO.

HERE IS THE PROBABLY FINAL LAYOUT:

THIS MORNING I SEWED THE LAST FOUR BLOCKS AND NOW I THINK IT IS BIG ENOUGH. I WILL JUST ADD A DARKER BROWN BORDER.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEK. HUGS.

LIBERTY

Hi friends,

this was a busy week-end. Still windy and rainy, great for patchwork!!
Inspired by my friend Susan I decided to sew a tote bag for my trip to Nantes. Some time ago I bought some Liberty fabrics and decided to use them for my new Liberty set. I made a tote bag following some directions and specially that one.
Then I made a pouch (my first attempt with a zipper) following this tutorial and a kleenex holder.

I really love them all. I'll probably do some more things before my trip.

I hope you enjoyed your week-end and wish you a good start in the new week.
Hugs.

New project and some impressions

Hi friends,

Summer is almost gone and we have been very busy. Actually we still are, but I wantend to post some news, after a long time neglecting my blog.
I didn't sew at all over the last few months and I'm starting to miss it. Although my sewing room is still a mess, I decided what my next project will be. Not a quilt but a skirt, done with a quilt block, the tumbler block. I will work with this tutorial and these are the fabrics I will be using.
Most of them are from Amy Butler's Daisy Chain collection and two are just pillow cases (you can't imagine what an amount of cheap fabric you get with a pillow case on sale!!).
I will do mine with 4 1/2" on top, 8 1/2" at the buttom and high. So I have less tumblers to cut out and the skirt doesn't look to busy. I will post my work in progress.

To end my post here are some fun pictures.
Did Felix catch the baby rat?? No, he didn't. We generally don't want rats around the house, but that one remembered me about the one in the movie Ratatouille. So cute!!!
Here you can see the rainbow that embraced our property, it was like having our own personal, special rainbow.

Hope to come back soon with updating on my skirt project. Have a nice week.
