365 Challenge

Hi friends,

it has been such a long time since I posted some news on my blog. Lots have happened meanwhile. I managed to go on with my project and only stopped for 2 weeks while my son was visiting the island. After that I chatched up and we already passed half way.
I won't post pictures of all the past weeks...only a few and the first six month work.

When we changed from the 3" blocks to the 6" it was quite difficult, they took a lot of time. Now we are back to the 3* babies and it is very relaxing!! Here new 3" blocks.

The challenge is still fun and I enjoy it very much. Hugs.

3rd week already started! I love it to get one new block each day. When the email arrives, it is a surprise to discover the daily block. Here are all second week blocks and the first 5 for the 3rd week. Love them all.

365 Challenge progress

Hi friends,

as I promised im my last post every Monday is showing day.
Here are my first 7 blocks.

And here blocks 8 to 11, plus bonus block of 1st January. 

They are really starting taking shape. For the moment all the blocks are very easy and it takes more to chose the fabric as to sew the block. But I'm enjoing it and wait every day for the next one.

Work in progress

Hi friends,

each day one block. So far I'm doing well, but I just have 5 blocks.
Here my first 4 blocks:

And block number 5.
Between January and March I will be sewing 96 tiny 3" blocks and by the end of April I should finish the center part, medalion and 1st dark border. Can't wait till then.

From now on I'll post my work in progress every Monday. So stay there connected.

365 CHALLENGE

Hi friends,

First I wish a Happy New Year to all of you! New Year and interesting news. 1st of January I started a new project that I will introduce to you. Perhaps some of my readers are already participating too, or maibe others will be interested.

This is the finished project! Its name is 365 Challenge and you can find all information about it HERE. Every day you get an email with the directions for the daily block. I hope I will be able to follow it during the year.

Here are my fabrics. I will do it all in neutrals, to give it a more modern look.

And here you see my first three blocks.

Drunkard's Path almost done

Hi friends,

and here is my Drunkard's Path table runner sewn together! I really love it, despite the fact that almost all circles don't match perfectly. I will probably hand quilt it.

It was fun and quick sewing all the circles. This tutorial was a great help. Sooo incredibly easy and fast.

New project - Drunkard's Path tablerunner

Hi dear friends,

it seems that this year I'm very inspired. I'm already on a new project! I spent some days looking at wonderful quilts done with the Drunkard's Path block. Then, I realized that I have templates for this block! Next question what to do and which fabrics to use. I decided for shades of purple. Then I made a little layout on paper. Here are all the pieces cut out ready for playing around on my design wall.

And here is the possibly final result:

Lots of curves to sew! Each block measures 3 1/2". Final measurements for the tablerunner will be 15"x30".

Colorwash exercise

Dear friends,

I allways wanted to sew a colorwash quilt. So during the last days I spent some time looking at wonderful quilts in the web, just to get some inspirantion.

Since it is my first attempt, I decided to get small. First I had to grab all my fabrics and divide them into colors. What I found was usually done in 2" blocks, I cut mine in 1 1/2". So with all my tiny bits I sat in front of my design wall and stardet playing around.

This is the first result:

It is 11 by 10 blocks. After that I decided that I wanted it square, so I added one more row on the top and changed just some blocks on the buttom purple section. And here is the final result:

It is about 12" square, a bit wonky, but after quiltin I'll square it. Now I'm hand quilting it, probably very soon I'll show you the finished piece.

ANOTHER NEW PROJECT

HI DEAR FRIENDS,

TODAY I'LL SHOW YOU MY SECOND NEW PROJECT FOR THIS YEAR. IT CAME TO ME BY CHANCE WITH AN EMAIL THIS MORNING. I GOT IT FROM QUILT AROUND THE WORLD WITH A FANTASTIC PROJECT AND THE IDEA STARTED TAKING SHAPE VERY FAST.

I DECIDED TO PARTICIPATE AND CREATE A 9" BLOCK ABOUT THE 9 AZOREAN ISLANDS, THE ARCHIPELAGO WHERE I HAPPILY LIVE. EACH ISLAND HAS A COLOR GIVEN TO IT FROM A SPECIFIC CARACTER.

THE ARCHIPELAGO IS DIVIDED INTO THREE GROUPS:

- EASTERN GROUP WITH SAO MIGUEL AND SANTA MARIA

- CENTRAL GROUP WITH TERCEIRA, GRACIOSA, SAO JORGE, PICO AND FAIAL

- WESTERN GROUP WITH FLORES AND CORVO

THIS ARE THE COLORS FOR EACH ISLAND:

- SANTA MARIA - YELLOW - DUE TO THE BROOM FLOWERING THERE

- SAO MIGUEL - GREEN - DUE TO THE FIELDS AND WOODS

- TERCEIRA - PURPLE - DUE TO THE WISTERIA AND LILAC TRELLIS

- GRACIOSA - WHITE - DUE TO THE WHITE STONES

- SAO JORGE - BROWN - DUE TO THE ROCKS AT PONTA DOS ROSAIS

- PICO - GREY - DUE TO THE MOUNTAIN

- FAIAL - BLUE - DUE TO THE BLUE HYDRANGEAS

- FLORES - PINK - DUE TO THE AZALEAS
